Ralph Alexander, one of the most widely known and highly respected residents of the Fairland community, died at the home of his brother-in-law, Riley Stewart, at 1544 East Tenth Street, on Saturday September 26 at four o'clock in the afternoon. Death, due to a cerebral hemorrhage, followed an illness of a week.
The deceased was born in Shelby county, March 13, 1854, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Alexander, being at the time of death seventy-seven years old. He became united in marriage to Miss Rachael Stewart on November 8, 1882, and to this union were born three children, one, Clell Alexander, of Fairland, survives.
Mr. Alexander was a faithful member of the Brandywine M. E. church and of the Red Men's lodge in this city, being one of the oldest members of the order. He was always honest and fair in all his dealings with his fellow-men and his passing is deeply mourned by his many friends. He leaves the widow, two grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Marshall, of Fairland.
Funeral services will be held at ten o'clock Tuesday morning in the Fairland M. E. church, with the Rev. W. A. Ryland officiating. Burial, in charge of Charles M. Ewing, will be in the Brandywine cemetery. The Red Men's lodge will take part in the services at the grave.
