Mrs. Malvina White Rhodes, 70, widow of Frederick A. Rhodes, Sr. and a resident of the Pleasant Valley community for a number of years, died at Rockingham Memorial Hospital on September 13, 1961. A daughter of the late Consie and Elizabeth White, she was born on July 26, 1891 in Washington, where she spent her early life. On May 12, 1914, she married Mr. Rhodes. Mrs. Rhodes was a member of the Anacostia Methodist Church and also attended the Pleasant Valley EUB Church. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ellis Garber, and Mrs. Bernard Shifflett, both of Rockingham; and Mrs. Arlie Randolph, of West Milton, Ohio; and one son, Frederick A. Rhodes, Jr., of Harrisonburg; 11 grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Stella Spring, Mrs. Ethel Smith, and Mrs. Viola White, all of Washington; and Mrs. Mabel Cabazas, of Sebring, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Saturday from the chapel of the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home with the Rev. James Legg in charge of the services. Burial will be in the St. Jacobs (Spaders) Lutheran Church Cemetery.
