Gertrude M. Durkin, of Conshohocken, a retired administrative assistant, died on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009.
Born in Conshohocken, she was a daughter of the late Thomas A. Sr. and Gertrude (Kennedy) Durkin.
Gertrude graduated from the former St. Matthew High School Class of ‘43. She was employed by Quaker Chemical in Conshohocken for 45 years as an administrative assistant to the Vice President and the Board of Directors. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and sewing.
Gertrude was ever proud of her Irish Heritage. She was a parishioner of St. Matthew RC Church, where she was a deeply religious and devout Catholic. She is survived by: a brother, Thomas A. Durkin of Conshohocken; 3 sisters, Rosemary Skelton of Audubon, Nancy Brown of Lansdale, and Patricia Accor of Trooper; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister, Dolores Richmond.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday morning, March 2 from 8:30-10am at the William A. Moore Funeral Home, 708 Fayette St., Conshohocken. A funeral mass will commence at 10:30am in St. Matthew RC Church, 3rd Ave. & Fayette St., Conshohocken, PA 19428. Interment Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken.
Memorial donations in Gertrude's name may be made to St. Matthew Church Restoration Fund at the aforementioned address.
