OBITUARY

Louisa Binkley Leatherman was born in Perry county, Ohio, Oct. 13, 1834; was married to Adam Leatherman August 10, 1854 - departed this life June 30, 1915.

At an early age she came to Allen county, Ohio, where her entire life was spent, except a few years that she resided in Vernon county, MO. To the above union were born 13 children; three being called to their Giver at an early age.

In childhood she was confirmed in the Lutheran church and later in life when not within reach of the Lutheran church, was united with the Methodist church, of which she was a devoted member until the time of her death. In her departure from us we lose a kind neighbor, one who was always ready and willing to do the utmost for her fellow being, one whose efforts and deeds were accomplished by that spirit of graciousness which no one can but admire and love, and made better by coming in contact with such a life. She was always a consistent Christian and made the remark just a few days before she died that she was not afraid to die. Symbolical of the life and teaching manifested by her everyday life. It can truthfully be said that she was a noble mother, one whose deeds and words will leave fond and cheerful memories of her.

Her children: Mrs. A. M. Harrod; Mrs. C. C. Green; W. H. and O. V. Leatherman, of near Harrod; Mrs. G. W. Eversole, of near Lima; Mrs. Dora McKill, of Ada; Mrs. J. F. Leonard, of Jefferson, O.; Mrs. Will Casteel, of LaPort, Texas; G. M. and Charley Leatherman, of Vernon county, MO; also three sisters: Mrs. Catherine Landfair, of near Ada; Mrs. Amanda Newell, of Clinton, Iowa and Mrs. Elizabeth Stombaugh, of Oregon, with a host of friends mourn her departure.

Dear mother, how we miss her,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home,
That never can be filled.
