WELLSVILLE - Bernard Perry, 69, of Wellsville, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at the Friendship Ridge Nursing Facility in Beaver, Pa.

He was born Nov. 25, 1940, in Wellsville, the son of the late Willie and Hazel (Johnston) Perry.

Bernard had been employed as a hacker for H.K. Porter and also in the maintenance department of Whemco. He was a member of the Church of the Living God in Midland, Pa., and was a member of the drill team for the Wellsville VFW. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include three sons, Carl Bernard Perry of Columbus, Ohio, Clifford Dwayne Perry of Wellsville, and Benji Corya Perry of East Liverpool; one step-son, Anthony Charles Perry; one step-daughter, Paula; one sister, May Sloan of Wellsville; one brother, Willie "Jimmy" Perry of Detroit, Mich.; and two cousins, Shirley Davis and Frank Jackson. Bernard is also survived by seven grandchildren and 55 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bernard was preceded in death by his companion, Brenda Petties; one daughter, Barbara Jean Perry; one step-son, Andrew; one step-daughter, Lynn; two sisters, Jean Petties and Joyce Perry; one brother, Alfred Perry; and one cousin, Alvin Jackson.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Roberts Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Renfroe of Lee's Chapel AME Church officiating.

Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
