Florence Irene Jones, 99, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1982 at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas after being in poor health the last two months. Florence was born Oct. 1, 1882 in Osceloa, Iowa; the daughter of Isaace N. and Sara E. Blackburn McBride. As a young woman she received her schooling in Osceloa, Iowa, taking special training in military and dressmaking, which proved to be of great advantage to her in later life. She raised three daughters, making all their clothes until they were in high school. She married Tilden James Jones on Nov. 26, 1901 in Osceloa, Iowa. She and her husband farmed in Iowa for a few years. They then moved to Manderson, Wyoming in 1910 where they bought a ranch. Due to Mr. Jones' health they later moved to Basin, Wyoming where he served for several years as County Assessor. In 1925 the family moved to Douglas. Mr. Jones had purchased the bottling plant at Basin and moved it to Douglas. In later years their son, Burl, took over the business. She is survived by her daughter, Arlene Albaugh; a son-in-law, Clare Albaugh; a daughter-in-law, Marion Jones all of Douglas; two grandchildren, Patricia Missett and Jeffrey Jones both of California; and four great grandchildren of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Burl W. Jones; two daughters, Verean A. Standefer and Chloris P. Jones; one grandson, Leland Standefer; and four brothers, John, Preston, Sherman and Newton McBride. (Information was obtained from her obituary in the Douglas Budget Aug. 19, 1982 by Betty Alberts, FAG Member #47293729.)
