Funeral services for Olvier McDaniel, 93, who died at his residence in this city last night, will be held at 1:30 o'clock Friday at Buffalo Methodist church. Short services will precede at the residence. Masonic rites will be held at the grave. Mr. McDaniel was one of the oldest native born residents of Sangamon county. He was a veteran of the Civil war, a member of the Masonic lodge and of the Methodist Episcopal church. During his active years he was a farmer. He was an active member of the Democratic party. Mr. McDaniel was injured Tuesday when an automobile backed into him, knocking him down. Coroner E. A. Dye will hold an inquest Friday morning at Buffalo. Mr. McDaniel was not only a pioneer resident, an old settler, a soldier and progressive farmer but one of the most active men in politics in central Illinois. He was a Democrat of the old school and has been a familiar figure for several decades in local and state Democratic conventions. He was in his prime in the Grover Cleveland campaigns and later fought vigorously through the contests in which he was an ardent follower of the late William Jennings Bryan. With similar enthusiasm he went through the campaigns for the election and re-election of the late President Woodrow Wilson. At one time he served as chairman of the Democratic county central committee and devoted much time and energy to campaigning for others but had no ambitions to seek political preferment for himself.
