Daughter of Bartram and Alice (Wilkinson) Rounds/Round.

Married James Hines in 1802 in Providence, Rhode Island.

They later moved to Herkimer County, New York, where they resided until moving to Michigan.

Betsey was the mother of sons who were very instrumental in the Methodist religion in the Oregon Territory. Her son Rev. Gustavus Hines went very early on to Oregon as a minister under the founder of the church in Oregon, Jason Lee, who established Jason Lee Mission in Salem, Oregon. He was also on the committee of men that met at Champoeg, Oregon to attempt to set up an initial government for the Oregon Territory. He authored a number of books concerning the missionary work in Oregon Territory.

Obediah was drown in the Snake River, in 1853 enroute to join the group of missionaries in Oregon.

Rev. Harvey Kimball Hines was also a minister of great renown at the time on the west coast.
