Kenneth W. Brown, 93, of Chillicothe, died 3:07 a.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010 in Heartland of Chillicothe following an extended illness.
He was born May 24, 1917, in Chillicothe to the late Alva W. and Dorothy Rhinefrank Brown. On May 3, 1946, he married the former Marcella A. Wilson who died November 22, 1990.
Surviving are a daughter of Chillicothe, a daughter and son-in-law of Chillicothe, OH; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters all of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, David.
He was predeceased by his father, Alva W. Brown; mother, Dorothy Brown Cox; brothers, Earl Cox, Wilby Cox and Andy Cox; a sister, Annie Ault; a son-in-law, Zane M. Evans, Sr.; and infant brothers, Robert Brown and Willie Cox.
Ken, a U.S. Army veteran, served in the 41st Infantry's 146th Field Artillery Division during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater having fought in the Southern Philippines and New Guinea. He received 3 Bronze Stars and a Bronze Arrowhead during his service to his country. Ken retired from the Chillicothe VA Medical Center in 1972.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mark Clendaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the VA Hospital Blue Team, the Staff at Heartland of Chillicothe and Heartland Hospice for their special care and kindness during our family's time of need.
