Willie Balthrop Stokes died when I was young. I have a few memories of her. She was very "southern" in an old fashioned way and always called my grandfather as "Mr. Stokes". When my mother first met my grandmother, my grandmother was taking college algebra. I remember that she always kept a jar full of Malt balls on a table in the back porch. I wish so much that I had had more time getting to know this special woman.
