Frank is the son of Richard Davis and Jane Williamson. He served in the 2nd regiment, SC rifles, during the insurrection, enlisting as a private and mustering out as a corporal.
He married Martha J Gambrell after the war and they are the parents of Georgianne Davis, Irena "Rena" Davis Bryant and Gambrell Franklin Davis.
Following Martha's death in 1907 Frank married widow Ella Salena Rodgers McCuen who brought 5 children (Roy Leslie McCuen, Boyce Harold McCuen, Ralph McCuen, Jesse Vasco McCuen and Lois Christine unknown) to the home. Her son, Ralph, had died in1902 after being struck on the head by a rock tossed into the air.
The couple together had three more children: William Franklin Davis, Jr, Margo Davis and Marion Davis.
