Violet Kelley, 93, of Clay City, IL died at 7:07 AM Friday, August 27, 2010 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

She was born April 12, 1917 at her home in rural Clay City, IL to Henry C. "Bud" Gill and Bertha (Kitley) Gill. She married Oscar A. Kelley on December 7, 1942 in Morganfield, KY. He preceded her in death on September 20, 1991.

She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Clay City. Violet enjoyed sewing, cooking, cake decorating, flower arranging, gardening, and her family.

She is survived by her daughter: Kathaleen Wenthe & husband Gary of Louisville; 2 grandchildren: Lisa Sigg & husband Todd of Effingham and Jennifer Wenthe of Louisville; 2 great-grandchildren: Jacob & Anna Sigg; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson (Justin), 3 brothers (Delbert, Lawrence & Eldon Gill), and 1 sister (Marguerite Provines). Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday (August 31, 2010) at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church or Donor's Choice.
