Lawrence O. Gill, 95, of Flora, IL died at 8:26 PM Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at The Burge House in Flora.

He was born February 4, 1912 in Clay City, IL to H.C. "Bud" & Bertha (Kitley) Gill. He married Pearl Evelyn Mix on March 7, 1940 in Louisville. She preceded him in death on May 23, 1998.

He was a retired area farmer and had sold used cars with his brothers then later he sold bicycles. He attended Bethel United Methodist Church. Lawrence also played the violin and enjoyed being with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter: Louanna (Max) Jaeger of Mattoon; granddaughters: Cindy Smith of Charleston and Becky (Matt) Landrus of Mattoon; great-granddaughters: Ashley & Carley Smith of Charleston and Kate Landrus of Mattoon; sister: Violet Kelley of Clay City; several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers (Eldon & Delbert), and 1 sister (Marguerite Provines).

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday, August 6, 2007 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Flora. Visitation will be from 8:30 AM until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church and may be received at the funeral home.
