Carl Alma Pace, Jr. of Pleasant Grove passed away after a valiant battle with cancer on August 21, 2010, while surrounded by his family in Pocatello, ID, while traveling with his wife of 41 years, Kathryn Washburn Pace.
Carl was born March 4, 1939 to Carl A. Pace, Sr. and Lillian Norman Pace. Carl and Kathy were married January 9, 1970 in Elko, NV. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on November 2, 1971.
Carl was a devoted husband, father of 5, grandfather of 13 and great grandfather of one plus five. He was devoted to the service of others, including his family, friends, neighbors, church and members of his Deer Sam's Club, Utah County Chapter. He enjoyed camping, traveling and riding ATV's. Carl was known for his craftsman skills, which he used for humanitarian services. Carl retired from Alpine School District, where he worked with his closest friend, Brent North, for 35 years. Carl served honorably in the US Air Force and Reserves from 1958-1964. Above all Carl was an honorable, honest and compassionate man and will be missed by many who are proud to have known him.
Carl is survived by his wife and five children, Becky (Ken) Nesheim, Lynnwood, WA; Jerrilyn Davis, Pleasant Grove; Cindy (Shennon) Davis, Pocatello, ID; Rodney (Debbie) Pace, Taylorsville and Sherrie Christensen, Kamas. His grandchildren are, Melissa, Felicia (Robert), Joseph (Heather), Lacey, Taylor, Alexandria, Breanna, Kristena, Thomas, Shaedra, Garrett, Hannah and Brodey. One great grandson, Talon and five honorary great grandchildren, Avri, Hattie, Kyle, Belle and Abby. He is also survived by five brothers and sisters, Janet (Goldon) Adams, Keith (Sam) Pace, Gerald (Karen) Pace, Neil (Margie) Pace and Kaylene (Gary) Beardall.
Funeral and viewing services will be held under the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary of Pleasant Grove, with a viewing on Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at 494 South 300 East.
A funeral will be held Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Timpanogos Stake Center Chapel, 800 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove, beginning at 11:00 a.m. preceded by a one hour viewing.
Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
Carl's family would like to thank the hospital and staff of the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, ID, for their compassionate service and care of our husband and father, and the support they gave us to help this great man in his final hours.
The family would also like to thank the staff of the cowboy RV Park and the other campers who helped us as well. Your kindness will be treasured always.
We also would like to thank the staff of the Huntsman Cancer Center in American Fork, especially Dr. Wendy Breyer, Dr. Jay Clark, as well as Paula and Mandy for the excellent care they gave during his battle with cancer.
