John was the only son to survive infancy. He went to Johnson City, Tennessee sometime in the 1910s to work for his brother in law Carlyle Marshall, and later went into the lumber business. He married Nelle B. Walker (1890-1970), of Tennessee, and they went to Bradenton, Florida in the 1920s. They didn't have any children.
