Rounding out a long and useful career, Albert Snead, pioneer of the Coquille Valley and a successful farmer of the Bear Creek section for many years, passes away at his home Friday, January 31, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 9 days. He was an active and industrious worker and remained in good health until about a year ago when he showed signs of failing.

Albert Snead was a native Oregonian, having been born in Linn County, May 22, 1856 He came to Coos County as a young man and on May 1, 1882, at the home of Esaw Prewett on Bear Creek, he was married to Madora Rangleman, member of one fo the pioneer families of this section.

Besides his widow, deceased is survived by three sons, Marion, Melvin and Lawrence Snead; five daughters, Mrs. John Kelly of Roseburg, Mrs. J. R. Fraser, Mrs. Anna Long, Mrs. Ivan Young, and Mrs. J. J. Morris, all of this community; also by a sister, Mrs. Minerva Lillie of Bandon; a half-brother, Preston Cowell; and by 30 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Bandon, under the direction of Schroeder Bros. Mortuary, Monday, February 3, at 2:00 p.m., the Rev. D. Loree officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
