Funeral services for Lee Alvis Davenport, 92, of Athens, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with burial in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Davenport died Monday at the Athens Convalescent Center. He was born in Limestone County to George Davenport and Sarah Rose Davenport.
He was a lifelong resident of Limestone County and retired from the Limestone County Board of Education. He was a member of the Blackburn Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, George Davenport of Dublin, VA, and Gerald Davenport of Lilburn, GA; four daughters, Alice Evans of Athens, and Nancy McCarthy, Linda Rankin and Karen Davenport, all of Decatur; two sisters, Martha Glaze and Rebecca Leopard, both of Athens; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
