Orin Lee Neal was born in Perry Township, Jefferson County, a son of Sanford & Lydia Neal. He followed stock raising, lumbering and farming during his active period of life.
He was twice married, 1st to Elsie Mosier on 25 November 1880.Elsie passed away on 24 March 1882. He later married Elizabeth Hickox.
Mr. & Mrs. Jack Neal had attended commencement exercises in Punxsutawney to see their son, Sanford, graduate and upon returning home found Mr. Neal had retired and seemed to be in his usual health. As a rule he was the first one up in the morning, but when he did not appear for breakfast, Mrs. went to his room and found he had died during the night.
He was found dead in bed at 5:30 A.M on Saturday by Mrs. Neal, in the home of his son,Jack,with whom he made his home near Frostburg. He was in his 79th year of age.
Mr. Neal was an active citizen in Perry Township when a young man, but later met, with an accident which left him a partial invalid, although he remained active about the farm.
He was a member of Perry Presbyterian Church.
He was the father of these named surviving children:
~ Jack Neal,of Frostburg ;
~ Mrs. C. M. Capper, of Washington, D. C.
~ Mrs. David Carrick, of Punxsutawney,
He also leaves four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the late home of the deceased and interment was in Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
