LONNIE FOSTER AND BABY DIE IN AUTO WRECK
Taken from the Dardanelle Post Dispatch 12-19-1927

This entire section of Yell County was shocked and saddened Wednesday morning to learn of the tragic death near Cotton Plant of L.L. Foster and his infant son, and the serious injuring of his wife and two small daughters, Anna and Jewell.

Mr. Foster and family , who reside at Capleville, Tenn., near Memphis were enroute to Dardanelle on a visit to the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Foster, of near Ard. On account of the inundation of the highway between Memphis and Little Rock, they were greatly delayed, being obliged to make many detours.

The accident occurred about 1:00 o'clock Wednesday morning, when Mr. Foster, who is thought by his wife, to have fallen asleep, drove off the embankment. The heavy car was overturned in a water filled ditch, all of the occupants being pinned beneath it.

Mr. Foster's death was due to drowning, while the child is thought to have succumbed to exposure.

It is said that several automobiles passed the scene of the wreck between its occurrence and daylight, but none of the occupants responded to Mr. Foster's frantic cries for aid, and they were not released from their perilous position until discovered by school children after 7:00 o'clock Wednesday morning.

Mrs. Foster and the two little girls were taken to a hospital in Brinkley and reports today state that all are improved and will probably recover.

The remains of Mr. Foster and his little son will be brought to Dardanelle for burial and it is probable the service will be some time Friday.

Our hearts go out in tender sympathy to the heart-broken wife an little daughter, the parents and other relatives in their great sorrow.
