Meyer became a U.S. citizen in 1900, which made Tillie and the two oldest children naturalized citizens, as well. After her husband died of stomach cancer early in 1910, Tillie continued to live with her children, all working to support the family. By 1925, with a number of children married and in homes of their own, Tillie moved to the Bronx to live with her son Morris and daughter Dora.
After Morris married, Tillie and Dora shared an apartment until Dora died in 1950. Tillie passed away on June 4, 1952.
