A son of David Akiva Mahler and Hinde Luria Mahler, Meyer arrived in New York City on 27 May 1885, according to his naturalization papers. His wife Tillie Jacobs Mahler followed soon afterward with their first two children. Another seven children were born in New York City. Meyer worked as a tailor in Manhattan. He died of stomach cancer.
