S/O Richard & Emma [Emerson] Roberson.

H/O Emma [Burns].

Audie Roberson migrated from Lucille in Grady Co., OK to Alex, OK before 1922 as did his father and brother, Dee.

Richard Roberson opened the Roberson Bros. general store as a family venture. His sons, Audie and Dee Roberson, operated the store."

The Alex Tribune, Friday, December 8, 1922 shows them announcing the opening of their new grocery and feed store in Alex. This building was located on the west side of Main Street.

By May 10, 1929, the Alex Tribune had a different advertisement for Roberson Bros. It welcomed Alex residents to their new store, across the street from their old location and two doors south of the post office. This location, on the east side of Main Street in Alex, was one that the Roberson Bros store would remain at until 1969 when they sold it to Jakie Horn.

In 1930, Audie Roberson had been married about a year to Emma Banks, D/O Lona [Tombs] and David Banks. And, the 1930 census shows both Dee and his brother, Audie, with their occupations as "manager, general store".

My dad, Jakie Horn, went to work for the Roberson Bros. in 1943 at the age of 15. He then bought the store in 1969 and it became Horn's Grocery until his passing in 1997.

The photo is of Audie's brother, Dee Roberson and Jakie Horn(right) standing in Roberson Bros. store in downtown Alex, OK.
