Graduated from Transylvania Medical College, Lexington, Ky, March 1822. Moved to Holly Springs, Miss, in 1843. Was a cotton planter, but also practiced medicine. Father of 5 sons, 3 daughters. Son Philip is buried in Friendship Cemetery, Como, MS. Daughter Minerva Pointer Watt is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford, TX.
