Confederate veteran 154th Tenn Inf S/O Dr. David Pointer and Obedience Torian Pointer of Holly Springs and Como, Mississippi. Wounded in the neck at Shiloh. Discharged for disability in November 1862 from Bragg's army, then assigned to the Quartermaster Corps under Capt. B. Mickle at the Confederate supply depot located at Grenada, Mississippi. Surrendered and paroled at Citronelle, Alabama, in May 1865.
