BE BURIED HERE
The body of Mr. Sam Bassett, of Silver City, New Mexico, arrived today from the south, accompanied by his sons, Harry and Ira Bassett of Silver City.
The deceased, fell and broke his hip a short time ago and his death occurred Sunday, January 27.
He would have been eighty-five years of age on February 9, had he lived until that date.
For; many years he lived in this county in the Rose Hill neighborhood, homesteading there in 1867. When he retired from active farm work, he lived in Blair for a while. Later, he went to Silver City where all his children are living.
His wife died twenty-three years ago and there remains to mourn his passing, five children, Harry, Ira, Mary Cornelius and Gertrude who is Mrs. Lloyd Warrick and with whom Mr. Bassett made his home.
His immediate relatives in this city are his nieces, Mrs. Hugo Haack, Mrs. John McCracken, Mrs. Caldwell and Mrs. Minnie Moore.
Funeral services will be held from the Methodist Church on Friday afternoon, February 1, at 2 o'clock and burial made in the Blair Cemetery.

Word was received here Monday morning of the death of Sam Bassett at his home in Silver City, N. M., Sunday morning. The body is to be brought here for the funeral Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, either at the Hugo Haack house or the Methodist Church; it has not been definitely decided which.
Mr. Bassett was 85 years of age. He fell on Thursday and broke his hip, death resulting Sunday morning.
His wife died here just 23 years ago today. He is survived by three son, Cornelius, Ira and Harry, and two daughters, Mary and Gertrude, Mrs. Lloyd Warrick, all of Silver City.
He lived on a farm in the Rose Hill neighborhood for a number of years, moving to Blair 21 years ago. For several years he made his home with the children in Silver City, making occasional visits to Blair. He was an uncle of Mrs. Hugo Haack, his wife and Mrs. Haack's sisters.
