Miss Ida Rhodes, a well-known and popular lady and school teacher of Luray, died Sunday night, November 2, 1913, after a brief illness, aged 40 years, 9 months, and 20 days.

She was suddenly stricken with apoplexy while returning from church Saturday evening and lingered but a brief time.

The funeral services were held at the Rhodes residence, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. DeWitt, pastor of the Luray M. E. Church. The Royal Neighbors of America, of which deceased was a member, also held services at the home and at the cemetery. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful attesting the love and esteem of neighbors and friends.

Ida Rhodes, daughter of Frank and Helen Rhodes, was born January 12, 1873, in Clark County, Missouri.

Miss Rhodes has been a successful school teacher in this county for a number of years and was engaged at the Lebanon school at the time of her death. She has always been a great favorite with pupils wherever she taught.
She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, having joined at the age of 20 years. She was ever faithful and devoted Christian and a great and loyal worker for her Master in the vineyard. She had been a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. Not alone will she be missed from the church, the school room, but from the ranks of the W. C. T. U. and the order of the Royal Neighbors, of which organizations she was a valued member. But the greatest loss will be in the home, where she was ever an obedient and devoted daughter and a loving and helpful sister. It has often been said that she scattered sunshine wherever she went. She always had a smile and a pleasant word for everyone. Her life was certainly not in vain and is a beatitude to all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance.

She is survived by her parents, two sisters, Mrs. Grace Jones of Arbela and Mrs. Benjie Buckley of Luray, besides nieces and nephews. They have the sympathy of all in their irreparable loss.

A Friend who Loved her.
