Helen was the tenth and last child born to her parents, Hilaire Fortier (1866-1928), and Sarah Regimbal (1875-1913).

Sadly, her mother passed away from complications of pneumonia just 30 days after giving birth to her.

Infant Helen was sent by her father to live with her grandmother, Salome Regimbal. She remained there until the age of fifteen, when in May of 1928 her grandfather, Fabien Regimbal died; and then in June, her father Hilaire passed.

Her aunt, Sister Olivine Regimbal continued to care for her until she finished school.

During her working years, Helen was employed by the deputy prosecutor at the Yakima Courthouse. She never married.

In 1980, at the age of 67, Helen passed away. She was buried in Calvary Cemetery near the main entrance parking lot. Later, her brother, Avilla Fortier and his wife, Muriel were buried there, next to her grave.
