Samuel Mosshart was born to Christian and Magdalena Tschappler Mosshart. He was one of nine children born to Magdalena. After his mothers death his father married Susan Trahsel and they had four children. Samuel left Ohio and moved westward to Kansas he was trying to make a life for himself. He farmed land and raised cattle and hogs. He was active in his community. He married late in life to Harriet Ellen King. Her father Peter King had a homestead in Alva, OK. Peter sold the farm to them after they married and he moved back to Kansas. Sam and Harriet had seven children.
