A Buffalo,NY native Charles was an all-star MUNY League Baseball centerfielder who modeled himself after Joe Dimaggio and aspired to a major league career. Charles never got to fulfill
his dream after being drafted into the Army during WWII. He was married to Martha Grankowski and had a daughter Charlene and two grandsons, Charles & Joel.
