WILLIAM JOSEPH BETTS-67: Barry, passed away last Tuesday [5-30] at his home follow-ing a lingering illness. He was born 4 May 1869 at Shakopee. In 1878 when he was 9yrs old, he came to BigStone Cnty with his parents, Mr-Mrs Leonard Betts. He was married at Big Stone Cnty on 14 Feb 1900. Before moving to the present home at Barry, they lived on a farm west of Barry, which Betts had home-steaded when he was 19yrs old.
Surviving are 8 children: Ann Lindskog-Seattle WA; Catherine Morrison & Viola (sp-Harry) Williams-Cloquet; Isabel (sp-Joseph) Private-Gracevl; Mary (sp-Carroll) Rippie & Evelyn (sp-Pat) Schafer-Minneapolis; Leonard Betts-KansasCity MO; Wm Betts-NewBrighton. Also surviving are 2 sis: Catherine Higgins-StPaul; Sara Mullin-Graceville; 2 bros: Abie Betts-Clinton; Jack Betts-Barry & 21 grandchildren.
Final rites for MrBetts were held Saturday [6-02] from StBarnabas Church at Barry with Rev John McKeever officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Fermoyle, John Curran, Brian Reedy, John Kennedy, Arnold Hendricks & Jack Heck. Interment was in LakesideCem-Graceville.
