CATHERINE BETTS: Barry; one of the oldest settlers of this community died Sun{5/5}, due to old age. "Grandma Betts" as she was familiarly known, was born in Ireland but came to the United States when she was a young child; she & her parents, Mr&Mrs John Cullens, lived at StLouisMO. When she was 10yrs old she came to CedarLake MN & it was there she was married to OrrinL Betts in 1867. In 1880 the deceased & her family moved to a farm near Barry where she lived until 1914, when she moved to the Village of Barry. For some time she has been an invalid.
MrsBetts was the mother of 14 children, 5 of whom: Ora, Lewis, Sherman, Anna & Maria have preceded her in death. She is survived by 5 sons & 4 daus: William, John & Leonard-all Barry; AB-Clinton; & Pete whose present address is not known; MrsMary Clifford, Mrs John Sullivan, MrsJohn Mullin & MrsJohn Higgins-all Barry. MrsBetts was living with her youngest dau-MrsHiggins at the time of her death. She is also survived by 62 grandchil-dren & 34 gr grandchildren.
The pallbearers were Charles Keeler, James Fermoyle, Brian Ruddy, John Kennedey, JP Byrnes & J Lyttleton.
Services were held Tuesday [5-07] from StBarnabas Church in Barry, RevMCasey officiating. {Interment in StMarys Cem}
