Born in Long Benton, Northumberland, England. Married Catherine Butcher in abt 1828. One son, Matthew Madison Moralee b. 1829 in Springfield, MA. Married Sarah Beavan in 1831, after 1st wife died. Moved to Dubuque, Iowa, 6 children born there. Moved to farm near Benton, Lafayette Co., Wisconsin in 1842 where 6 more children born. Moved to California by 1858. Followed the oldest daughter, Margaret Beavan Moralee Johns, as she and her husband, William Johns, moved around Gold Country in California gold rush. Settled in Alameda and died there.

Five other children were born to Michael and Sarah Beavan Moralee. The burial location of these four is currently unknown to this researcher:
