Mr. Asa Abshier died at his home in Liberty last Sunday and was buried Monday evening by the Masonic fraternity, of which he was an old, honored and zealous member. Mr. Abshier had been ill for several months, and for weeks and days his family watched by his bedside patiently waiting the hour when he would be summoned by the Great Grand Master to a rest from his labors. The deceased was 76 years of age. He had lived for many years in this place, had been twice married and had lived to see two families of children grow up into manhood and womanhood. "Uncle Asa," as he was generally called, was a good citizen, a kind neighbor, a devoted husband and affectionate father. He was an honest man - nothing prided him more than to be able to pay his just debts. His second wife survives him and beside his children here - Frank Abshier and Mrs. Paul Baillio - there are Mrs. F. D. Green of Victoria and Mrs. J. H. Fuller of Beaumont and perhaps other children whose names we do not remember. The old man had a host of relatives and friends many of whom followed his body to its last resting place. We sincerely sympathize with the family of the deceased in their great sorrow.
