Benjamin Abshier Jr. was the son of Benjamin and Hannah (Weed) Abshier. He was married Sept. 2, 1842 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana to Miss Carmelite Boullett. He served during the War Between the States in Captain Thomas Wooten's Company B of the Texas State Troops (home guard). He lived most of his life in the area around Hankamer.
