Amos was the husband of Nancy (Hornaday) Clark (1839-1884). Amos and Nancy were married on May 8, 1853. Amos was married previously to Margaret (McDonald) Clark (1817-1852) on April 11, 1839 in Scott County, Indiana. Amos was the son of David Clark and Elizabeth (Manaugh) Clark. He was the father of four children with Margaret and at least four children with Nancy. In his will, Amos mentions all eight of these children. His children with Margaret were: Elizabeth Ann Clark and David Manaugh Clark (twins), Louisa Jane Clark and Amos Leander Clark. His children with Nancy were: Margaret Alice, John M., Sarah H. and William Theophilus Clark.

Please note: There are numerous family histories that have this Amos Clark confused with another Amos Clark who died in Bartholomew County, Indiana. The other Amos Clark was born in Scott County, Indiana in 1826 and was the son of Hezekiah Clark and Charity (Pittman) Clark.
