GONZALES - Edward Valenta, 72, of Gonzales died Saturday, June 22,1996. He was born, July 2, 1923, in Gonzales to the late Rudolf Valenta and Annie Simicek. The painter/ farmer was of the Catholic faith. He served in the U.S. Navy in Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post No. 4817, American Legion Post No. 40 and DAV Post No. 202. Survivors: sisters, Mary Hubenak of Ganado and Herminia Stouhal of Highland; brothers, Robert Valenta, Raymond Valenta and George Valenta all of Gonzales, Rudy Valenta of Ganado and Jerry Valenta of Beaumont. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tonight at Buffington Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:15 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church, the Rev. Frank Macias officiating. .
