Funeral services were held Monday, August 1, 1966 at 10 a.m. from the St. James Catholic Church, Gonzales, for Anton Jim Valenta, who died Friday, July 29 in Austin. The services were preceded by a short service at 9:45 at the Baker Chapel with the Rev. Joseph Mathey officiating. Burial was in the St. James Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Valenta, the son of Frank and Mary Valenta, natives of Czechoslovakia, was born in Czechoslovakia on January 5, 1904. He came to this county when six years of age. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ann (Julia Vanek) Valenta, whom he married August 16, 1921; one daughter, Angelina Valenta of Gonzales; and one brother, Bohus Valenta of Five Mile community near Gonzales. Pallbearers were Adolph Brzozowski, Joe and Frank Zavadil, Frank Bahlmann, James Dornak and Joe Pavalica. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph Valenta, who died February 12, 1964.
