Mrs. Valenta Rites Held Last Week

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 26, from the St. James Catholic church for Mrs. Annie Valenta. Interment was in the city cemetery. Mrs. Valenta died early Saturday morning Jan. 24 in the Holmes hospital.
The deceased was a resident of the Five Mile community, and was born in Fayetteville on Nov. 27, 1887. She was married to Louis Matocha, who preceded her in death in 1917, she later married Rudolph Valenta and moved to Gonzales in 1919. She was a member of the St. James Catholic church.
Survivors included her husband and 12 children, August Matocha, Mrs. Robert Van Beveren, Edward and George Valenta, Rudolph Valenta, Jr., and Mrs. Ignac Nubenak, Ganado; Mrs. Jim Strouhal, Highlands; Paul Matocha, Agua Dulce; Jerome Valenta, Bay City; and Robert Valenta of the US Army. Also surviving are two brothers, Bohus Simicek and August Spalek of Ganado; 22 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Pall bearers were Joe Pavlica, Anton Kalinec, Joe and Charley Hanzelka, Joe and Ludwig Molnosky.
