Born 'Roy Lee Collins', he later went by the name of Robert Collins. "Robert" came from the fact that his cousins called him, "Bob", instead of "Roy". He must have liked the name, and began using the more formal, "Robert", for legal and personal transactions.
This 'name change' has led to much confusion for some 'Family Researchers' who often ask, "Are 'Roy' and 'Bob'/'Robert' the same person?" Indeed, they are. On his tombstone his middle initial is "R." for "Roy".
