On March 6, 1895, he was united in marriage to Anna Goodwin, in Kahoka, Missouri. To this union one child, Helen, was born. Mrs. Anna Callihan died August 23, 1899, at Luray, Missouri. The daughter, Helen, died June 4, 1914 at Luray, Missouri.
Dr. Callihan was again united in marriage to Nettie Y. Roland, November 24, 1901, at Kahoka, Missouri. To this union two sons were born, Roland Stuart of Luray, and Charles Ferris of St. Louis, Missouri. Also two grandchildren survive, Richard and Dennis R. Callihan.
He was a graduate of the Keokuk Medical College, 1891, and practiced his profession from that year until a few days before his death. Dr. Callihan is the last of a family of seven children brothers and four sisters.
Last summer while in Graham Hospital, Brother Harp, was instrumental in leading Dr. Callihan to Jesus Christ as his Savior.
Dr. Callihan was a fine man, was loved by the people of this community whom he faithfully served all these years.
The pallbearers were Harry Kearns, Roy Stevens, Billy Hawkins, Billy Carter, Estel Morrison, and Forrest Sisson, all of whom Dr. Callihan delivered at birth.
The funeral services were held at the M. P. Church at Luray, by Rev. Ed D. Dawson of Perry, Missouri conducting, assisted by Rev. J. A. Harp of Keokuk, Iowa. Interment was in the Combs Cemetery.
The funeral was held at Luray, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
(One brother, John (Fish) Callihan of Peoria, Illinois survives the deceased. Attorney O. S. Callihan, an elder brother, died in Kahoka a few years ago. The old Callihan homestead was in north Jackson Township, a few miles southeast of Kahoka.
