Mrs. Virginia Lee Davis, age 83, died in Waco at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 1955 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. L. Lewis. She had been in ill health a long time.
She was born in Mississippi, September 22, 1871, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Boyd, and came to Texas and settled in the Durango area with her parents when she was two years of age. She married R. P. Davis of Durango and the family continued to reside in that community and engaged in farming activities. His death occurred at Durango on August 23, 1927. Following his death his widow resided at Golinda about 20 years and had resided in Waco for the past nine years. She was a member of the Methodist church at Durango and had been a Methodist for 71 years.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Maggart B. Howell of Temple officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery at Durango.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. D. L. Tiner, Sugarland, and Mrs. R. L. Lewis, Waco. Three brothers, Jack Boyd, Chilton; Hardy Boyd, Lott, and Tillman Boyd, Fort Worth. Two sisters, Mrs. John Douglas, Waco, and Mrs Addie Boyd, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
