Ruth worked as a waitress for more than 24 years for the Highway Lodge before her retirement. She married Jay Whitworth on Oct. 26, 2009, in McAlester. She was a life member of the Richville Baptist Church. She passed away at her home in McAlester at the age of 69. Survivors include her husband, Jay Whitworth, of the home; three daughters, Twila Atkins, of McAlester, Sherrie and Ronnie Faulconer, of McAlester, and Robin and Victor McIntyre, of McAlester. Also, seven grandchildren, Colby DeGiacomo, David DeGiacomo, Chase Lalli, Jericah Faulconer, Anthony Faulconer, Robert Hodges and Joey Thompson; four great-grandchildren. And, two sisters, Alice Hayes, of Kansas, and Loretta Wooley, of McAlester; three brothers, Otis Jefferson, of McAlester, Thomas Jefferson, of McAlester, and Cleno Jefferson, of California, and good friend, Paul Sullivan, of McAlester. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Delphia Jefferson, and three brothers, Johnny Jefferson, Wallace Jefferson Jr., and Ulis Jefferson. Pallbearers will be Don Webb, Leonard Compton, Jim Richardson, Richard Petrick, Paul Sullivan and Lynn Weeks. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Smith, Joe Randazzo, Steve Dodd and Darrel Baker. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. David Stanfield officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
