The son of James and Nancy Tuite Shuert he was born Nov. 10, 1884 in Lewiston, Ill. He had lived in Wapello County 52 years.
Mr. Shuert was a member of the Eldon Masonic Lodge and of the Wapello County Fair Board.
He was married in 1904, to Cora David in Peoria, Ill. She died in 1961. He was also preceded in death by a son in infancy.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Laila Reighard of Agency, Mrs. Claire Hanna of Bloomfield. Mrs. Mary Rezner of Ottumwa and Mrs. Betty Johnson of Des Moines; one son Kenneth Shuert of Batavia; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three brothers and one sister in Missouri.
The service will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Jay Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Philgreen of the Agency Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in McCormick Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
