Frances Wilhelmena Carlson Beery, the daughter of Carl W. and Agnes Sederburg Carlsward was born March 17, 1913 in a farmhouse near Nyman, in Page County, Iowa. Frances died Saturday, June 01, 2002 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 15 days.
Frances was raised and attended country school in Page County near Nyman, Iowa. She was Baptized and Confirmed from the Fremont Lutheran Church at Nyman. She also went on to play the organ and teach Sunday school at Nyman. Frances was united in marriage to Richard Carlson on November 30, 1929. Blessed to this bond were five sons and three daughters. Richard died on June 21, 1961. Frances was later united in marriage to Charles Beery on April 5, 1971 in Maryville, Missouri. Frances was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived her life to the fullest capacity. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling, camping and dancing. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Richard; four sisters: Ruby Jean, Della, Rachel, and Nina; husband, Charles Beery on August 29, 1995; daughter, Beverly Westenburg; and grandson, Gary Carlson.

Frances is survived by two daughters: LaDonna Raney and her husband James of Villisca, Iowa and Marcia Sierp and her husband Robert of Onalaska, Wisconsin; five sons: Darrell Carlson and his wife Mary Ann of Red Oak, Iowa, Richard Carlson and his wife Joy of Red Oak, Iowa, William Carlson and his wife Carol Ann of Stanton, Iowa, Roger Carlson and his wife Mary Jo of Marion, Iowa, and Daniel Carlson of Red Oak, Iowa; 23 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Verna Erickson of Red Oak, Iowa.
