Jeanne Elizabeth (BRAYBROOKS) DOONAN, 21 North 2nd Street, "I lived for those who loved me, for those who knew me true, for the heaven that smiles above me, and holds my spirit anew." Jeanne died November 14, 2000 at Borgess Medical Center. She was born September 3, 1921 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Wayne and Bernice (SAY) BRAYBROOKS. She graduated from Paw Paw High School and proudly attended class reunions. On June 15, 1941, in Kalamazoo, she was united into marriage with Benjamin J. DOONAN. Jeanne was a licensed psychiatric attendant nurse at Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital, and cared for the patients there for 30 years. Following retirement, she stayed active at the hospital and served as a volunteer, Jeanne loved to travel; she and Benjamin wintered in Mission, TX for several years. She was a member of Northwest United Methodist Church and active in M.A.D.D. She was preceded in death by 2 children, James P. and Michael W. DOONAN; and 2 brothers, Robert and Russell BRAYBROOKS. Surviving are her husband, Benjamin J.; 5 children, Kathleen (Jim) MCDOWELL of Olympia, WA, Pat (Ron) AUSTIN of Wayland, MI, Timothy DOONAN of Lansing, MI, Jonathan DOONAN of Kalamazoo, and Jeanne (Greg) DOONAN of Kalamazoo; 7 grandchildren: Ben, Sean, Nate, Anne Marie, Rob, Colleen, and Jamie Lynne; 4 great-grandchildren; Caleb, Riley, Abbie and Madison; and 1 brother, William (Katherine) BRAYBROOKS of Kalamazoo. The family will be present to receive friends Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Betzler Funeral Home Stadium Dr. West of 131 where Services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. with Rev. Scott Gerald Prinster of the Unitarian Universalist Community Church, officiating. Interment of cremated remains Hill Cemetery, Oshtemo. Food and fellowship will be shared at her daughter Jeanne's home following the service.
