AUTO CRASH FATAL TO A RESIDENT OF BRUNSVILLE
Rites Held Last Saturday For Mrs. Henry Harms
Mrs. Henry Harms, 75, well known Brunsville resident, was killed in an Auto accident during the storm Tuesday evening, March 22, on Highway 3, about four miles west of Le Mars, reports the Daily Sentinel.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at St. Peter Lutheran church, Brunsville, Rev. Clarence Nagel offciating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Sheriff Jim Mertes, a son-in-law of Mrs. Harms, said a car driven by Mrs. Herman Wilken, Brunsville, a daughter of Mrs. Harms, went out of control and rolled into a ditch, pinning the victim under the vehicle. Also investigating was Highway Patrolman D. S. Hays.
It was windy, raining and sleeting at the time and the blacktop road was slippery, officers reported. Mrs. Harms and her daughter had been in Le Mars, where they visited Mr. Harms, 80, who had been admitted Monday to Sacred Heart hospital. They were returning home at the time of the accident.
Mrs. Harms, the former Anna Lucille Harms, was born June 13, 1891, in Plymouth county. A lifelong resident of this county, she was married may 15, 1911, to Mr. Harms.
Survivors besides the widower are two sons, Harvey and Robert, both of rural Le Mars; five daughters, Mrs. Mertes and Mrs. Wilken, Mrs. Harry Lehman of Battle Creek, Mrs. Gleen Breitbarth, of Norwalk, Calif., and Mrs. Lloyd Schultz of Tehachapi, Calif.; two brothers Herman Harms, of Brunsville, and Charles Harms, in California; a sister Mrs. Catherine Dickman of Brunsville, 18 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.
