The heartfelt letter (dated Feb. 21, 1936) my grandmother Lavada received from her sister Margie who learned of her young nephew's death in the obituary section of the Savannah newspaper.

Royce with his father Luther and brother Earl on the front porch of their home. This house at 418 Ethel Street is where Royce, Earl and Laverne Carter were all born. Surprisingly, the house is still standing. Photo was taken around 1925.

Old family home at 1122 Margaret Street that has since been torn down. This was my late mother's last home in Georgia before her family moved to Virginia. When her brother Royce died, his body was brought here for his family visitation prior to his funeral up in Alma. At that time, his Aunt Nannie and Uncle Seward lived in this house. My mother took this picture in 1994.

516 Crawford Street where Royce and his siblings played with their cousins (children of John and Dorothy Carter) in the early 1930s. My mother took this photo in 1994 during her visit there.
