Antonio Archuleta age 94, died Thursday, August 5, 2010 in Santa Fe.
He was born on March 6, 1916, on the family ranch near Folsom, NM to Candido Archuleta and Adelaida (Garcia) Archuleta.
Antonio played college basketball at Trinidad State Junior College and was an avid sports fan and enjoyed camping, hunting and traveling. He married Lucy (Sanchez) Archuleta in 1939 in Clayton, NM and she preceded him in death on July 18, 1982. Antonio taught school in the rural Union County schools for 10 years and then at Mosquero for 2 years before coming to Clayton where he taught Spanish and Drivers Education for 30 years.
He was a charter member of the David T. Arguello Council of the Knights Of Columbus in Clayton and served as Grand Knight and as the District Deputy for N. E. New Mexico. He was a member of the National Education Association and served as President in Clayton.
He is survived by four sons, Tony Archuleta of Columbus, OH, Edmund Archuleta and his wife Eva of El Paso, Adelmo Archuleta and his wife Becky of Albuquerque and Joseph Archuleta of Santa Fe; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
