Rosenberg Herald, January 4, 1946:

Mr. Samuel E. Aylor of Orchard suffered a heart attack at the post office there Monday, December 31, 1945, at 4:15 p.m., which was fatal, causing instant death. The news of his sudden death brought sorrow into the hearts of his many acquaintances there and throughout the county, where he was so well known.

Mr. Aylor was born in Carterville, Missouri on January 17, 1888. He had been a prominent ranchman and farmer of the Orchard community since 1895 and was known to have been one of the oldest citizens of Orchard, in point of residence, since many of the early settlers have either died or moved away. He was a very influential business man and a true and loyal friend to everyone. He was a member of the Methodist church and served as one of the trustees of the church and was also a member of the Orchard School Board. His influence for good and his every day walk of life will be sorely missed in the community in which he had made his home for so many years.

Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elfreda Aylor of Orchard; two daughters, Mrs. A.E. Vick of Katy, and Miss Kathryn Elizabeth Aylor of Orchard; one son, Sgt. Omer F. Poorman of the U.S. Army in Europe; four sisters, Mrs. A.G. Tulhill of Lyle, Washington, Mrs. Ruth Campbell of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. W.B. Wooster and Mrs. A.W. Johnson of Golthwaite; two brothers, T.S. Aylor of Lampasas, Felix K. Aylor of Orchard.

Funeral services for Mr. Aylor were held from the Orchard Methodist Church Thursday, January 3, 1946, at 3 p.m., with Rev. W.A. Menking and Rev. A.M. Roos officiating in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. Interment took place in the Orchard Cemetery.

The Foerster Funeral Home of Rosenberg had charge of funeral home arrangements. The following served as pallbearers: Guy N. Wynn, Joe Dujka, R.J. Schank, Joe Gajevsky, Henry Roper, and Leon Dzierzanowski.

Most sincere sympathy is extended the bereaved in their hour of great sorrow.
