According to the Sedalia Daily Democrat, when Mary died on May 12, 1875, at age 29, she left four children. Angieleex preceded her in death; and Joel did not survive childhood.
She married Oscar Lionel Wood on November 8, 1891, in Pettis County, Missouri.

Her death certificate listed acute indigestion for the primary cause of death with heart as the secondary cause. Her husband, Reverend O. L. Wood, signed the death certificate as the informant.
